| See the web site http://www.scootreno.org We ride every 2nd and Last Sunday of the month. The 2nd Sunday rides are definitely suitable for a 50cc Ruckus. If you get me an e-mail address, I'll put you on the list to get notices of rides. Once I get some details, I'll be updating the calendar here on NVGR to keep the two sites in sync. FYI, there are 2 scooter rallys around here: Tahoe in July and Reno "Doomtown" in September. I know you're thinking that no way will a 50cc Ruckus make the trip to Tahoe. Last year, a guy rode his 50cc Metropolitan from San Jose, around the lake and vicinity for 3 days, and then rode back home. No excuses! | |

| You have 3 options to Tahoe, depending upon how much time you have. (The rally last year started rides from Camp Richardson.) I'm also assuming that your Ruckus is de-restricted, which means that the top speed is about 45-55 mph instead of the restricted 35 mph.
1. Go over Mt Rose and go counter-clockwise around the Lake to Camp Richardson. (+)It's a bit shorter, there are pullouts on the Mt Rose Hwy. (-)You'll be going slow over Mt Rose.
2. Head south through Carson City following old 395, then go over Hwy 50 and clockwise to Camp Richardson. (+)It's not quite as steep as Mt. Rose, 50 is mostly 4 lanes so you've got lots of room. (-)It will take longer.
3. Take the scoot up to Tahoe on a trailer :-)
I've done option #1 on my 50cc Aprilia scooter, and it takes a while to get over Mt Rose. Top speed on the steep parts was around 30mph. | |
